Active Research Areas
My research and outreach is focused on renewable energy systems in agriculture and rural communities. It takes a systems approach that includes implications for farm cultivation/cultural practices, sustainable crop and animal production, and economics. I use life-cycle analysis (LCA) as a tool to quantify energy use and environmental impacts in farm operations. My goal is to optimize rural energy use and agricultural production systems using findings from LCA studies. In addition to optimization, I also examine renewable energy production and substitution of fossil fuels with renewable sources.
